Here we are in 2018 with an update from me. It has been a long time coming. Over the last couple of years, I have been quieter on the singing front. Last year in particular was an incredibly busy and enjoyable year, when I had the privilege to serve Royal Cromer Golf Club as its first female Club Captain. What a year it was. I am so very glad to have been Captain at this wonderful golf club. It was a full time commitment and, of necessity, I made the choice to reduce my singing engagements so as to give myself to the job at hand.

Having finished my Captaincy at the very end of November 2017, I was straight back to the singing with a return to the exceptional venue of The Old Granary Studio in Suffolk on 8th December.

Then came a very special engagement at The Savile Club in Mayfair, London. What an incredible honour it was to be asked to sing at the memorial concert for the composer Philip Cannon. Philip passed away in December 2016 and it was the family’s wish to present a programme of a number of his compositions, in celebration of his life and work. The programme included exhilarating performances of his String Quartet (1964) and The Temple (1974). My friend and harpist, Brian Davis, performed Carillon (1955) and Brian and myself presented the Cinq Chansons de Femme. These five songs are such exquisite characterisations of five women in very different circumstances. It has been a delight to be introduced to these pieces. The whole event was a fitting tribute to Philip Cannon and it was indeed a privilege to be a part of it.

In April, I will be singing again with the wonderful Norwich Baroque in a tantalisingly named programme Pictures at an Exhibition ~ Baroque Style. Appearances with Norwich Baroque are always a highlight in my calendar. So much so that, even with my commitments over the last couple of years, concerts with them stayed firmly in the diary! Also in April, I have been engaged in a very interesting programme featuring contemporary compositions, including music by British composer and Master of the Queen’s Music, Judith Weir CBE.

So, much to look forward to. I will keep you posted with news of concerts and look forward to seeing you soon!
